Indigenous Tourism BC is hosting a train the trainer workshop where participants can become certified to deliver FirstHost Training on February 19th – February 21st in Vancouver, British Columbia.
What is FirstHost?
In this tourism workshop, participants learn about providing excellent customer service in the Indigenous tourism industry, which continues to grow across Canada. This workshop is designed to celebrate the cultures and communities of Indigenous peoples while covering various topics including how to master communication and interpersonal skills and learn about the hospitality industry. After completing this workshop, participants receive a certificate which is recognized by BC and WorldHost® Training Services.
Who should receive trainer certification?
Once certified, a trainer can then deliver the FirstHost training program anywhere in the province. This is a great opportunity for community members to become certified to deliver training in their own communities.
Where is the training program located?
The trainer program will be delivered in Vancouver on Feb 19 – Feb 21, 2019 (a 3 day course). The exact location in Vancouver is still TBD.
What does the train the trainer program cost?
The certification fee to become a FirstHost trainer is $1,500 per trainee which covers the cost of the train the trainer session, trainer’s manual to deliver FirstHost and memory stick with video’s used in the FirstHost workshop.
What is the Agenda?
1. Review of FirstHost Trainer’s manual and other resources
2. Discuss and understand key learning styles of participants
3. Discuss and understand proper facilitation techniques for delivering FirstHost
4. Deliver a portion of the FirstHost workshop
5. Provide feedback to trainee’s on what their strengths are and ways to improving their delivery of the workshop
6. Review FirstHost administrative procedures
