Vancouver – National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration

The Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre is hosting the following festivities on National Indigenous Peoples Day:

  1. Pancake Breakfast: The event will be held from 9 am to 11 am on Thursday, June 21, at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre at 1607 East Hastings Street (corner of Hastings and Woodland Drive).
  2. Friendship Walk: The parade will start at 11 am at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre and will make its way to Trout Lake (3350 Victoria Drive) along Commercial Drive.
  3. Community Festival: The festival will be held from 12 pm to 5 pm at Trout Lake where there will be community festivities including a Teepee Village, pow-wow dancing with a drum group, entertainment, vendors, and a art display.

Vancity is a proud sponsor of this event. This year, the annual celebration will be a Zero Waste Event in order to reduce the amount of waste generated at the events and keep the garbage out of landfills by diverting materials to be recycled or composed.
