War Paint On the Lens: Through the Eyes of Ernie Paniccioli

The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art and The 2nd Annual Native Hip Hop Festival present: War Paint On The Lens: Through The Eyes of Ernie Paniccioli, a public program as part of AKOS, a solo exhibition by Haida artist, Corey Bulpitt.

This program explores the life and philosophies of famed photographer Ernie Paniccioli. He has spent the last 40 years documenting Hip Hop culture, capturing iconic images of the world’s elite Hip Hop artists and graffiti through the eyes of a Cree man. Ernie has also made his mark as a poet, painter and activist. This program will include Indigenous Hip Hop music videos, a screening of The Other Side Of Hip Hop: The Sixth Element and selected images from Ernie’s portfolio. Join them as they celebrate the life of a Hip Hop icon.
