Are you seeking tourism mentorship? Are you seeking support to plan a tourism opportunity? Is your tourism operation implementing improvements?

The ITBC Capacity Building & Resilience Project for 2023/2024 is offered by Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) and funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport. In its second year of delivery, the ITBC Capacity Building & Resilience Project focuses on:

  • Support and alignment of efforts to build capacity in Indigenous communities
  • Increased industry capacity through programs, training, and collaboration
  • Assistance in the enhancement of tourism planning by Indigenous communities

The 2023/2024 ITBC Capacity Building & Resilience Project team will deliver three (3) Programs to ITBC Stakeholders with the following objectives:

  • Support Indigenous Peoples’ right to self-determination and interest in the pursuit economic, social, and cultural development through tourism.
  • Lead the Indigenous tourism industry in returning to the 2017/18 level of success by 2024.
  • Support Stakeholders and Indigenous communities to cultivate a prosperous and sustainable tourism industry that connects visitors to exceptional Indigenous experiences.
  • Build industry capacity through relevant programs, training, and collaboration, and increase or enhance Indigenous communities’ capacity for tourism planning.

PROGRAM 1: TOURISM MENTORSHIP INITIATIVE

PROGRAM 2: TOURISM BUSINESS FUND

The ITBC Tourism Business Fund (TBF) is a contribution program that provides support to Indigenous tourism operators who are current Stakeholders of ITBC and that are implementing improvements to business operations.

Tourism Planning Initiative (“TPI”) is a planning application initiative that provides resources for Indigenous community tourism planning processes that support recognition of their economic and socio-cultural aspirations in tourism development.
