Standard, Emergency and Occupational First Aid
In tourism, being ready for the unexpected is part of keeping guests, staff, and communities safe. Whether you’re guiding visitors, working with families, or running a business in a remote area, knowing what to do in an emergency can make all the difference.
These in-person First Aid & CPR courses are hands-on, practical, and give you the confidence to respond when it matters most. You’ll learn important safety skills, meet WorkSafeBC requirements, and feel more prepared every day on the job.
Training is fully funded for eligible participants, with all materials included. We’ll work with you to find a course that fits your needs – and if you already have a preferred provider, just let us know.

- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C

- Occupational First Aid – Basic (Formerly OFA 1)

They’re also well-suited for child care providers working in tourism-related settings, as well as anyone responsible for meeting WorkSafeBC safety requirements in the workplace. Whether you're new to first aid or looking to renew your certification, these courses offer valuable skills for all experience levels.

These courses are on-demand and in-person. Our team will coordinate training that fits your location and schedule through recognized providers.
Eligibility
Indigenous Tourism BC will cover the full costs of this training for eligible participants:
- Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit, Metis) residing in BC
- Indigenous-owned tourism businesses (51%+ Indigenous ownership), and employees of
- First Nations-owned tourism businesses (51%+ First Nations ownership), and employees of
- First Nations Communities in BC
Prerequisites
Everyone is welcome to take part—no previous experience is needed for entry-level courses. They’re a great place to start if you’re new to first aid or looking to refresh your knowledge. However, some intermediate and advanced courses may require you to have completed a lower-level first aid course beforehand.
