Indigenous Tourism BC Launches New Consumer Website

Coast Salish Territories (May 6, 2019): Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) is proud to unveil IndigenousBC.com, a brand-new resource for locals and visitors to British Columbia. Launching this summer, the user-friendly, intuitive and mobile-first website will make it easier than ever for visitors and residents to connect, plan and book Indigenous tourism experiences across the province.

Supported by the strong partnership between ITBC and Destination British Columbia, IndigenousBC.com leverages the technology platform of Destination BC’s multiple award-winning HelloBC.com. IndigenousBC.com is distinguished by its strong brand presence and rich Indigenous storytelling woven throughout each page.

Visitors on-the-go will benefit from an efficient and speedy user experience, thanks to the website’s intuitive trip-planning design. Featuring a clean and concise look, IndigenousBC.com shares compelling video and digital stories that shine a spotlight on thriving and inspirational Indigenous cultures in BC.

Key sections showcase Indigenous tourism opportunities across the province, categorized according to distinct interests, experiences and locations. Travel Ideas groups Indigenous content by cuisine, culture, event and wildlife experiences, and shares both short and extended itineraries for travel in BC. Places to Go explores unique Indigenous communities, languages and landmarks in each of BC’s tourism regions. Things to Do helps users search for ideal experiences based on interest, and Plan your Trip contains additional resources such as maps and travel information, as well as searchable Indigenous tourism listings.

“We are excited to launch this new and improved website portal that prioritizes a mobile-first approach, intuitive trip planning and Indigenous storytelling, thereby connecting visitors more easily to Indigenous tourism experiences in BC,” said Brenda Baptiste, chair of Indigenous Tourism BC. “I would like to thank Destination BC for their generous partnership and support in the development of this leading-edge tool to promote our rich Indigenous tourism industry. I would also like to extend a sincere thank-you to Western Economic Diversification, which partnered with us to fund our ongoing marketing efforts.”
