Safer Spaces for Workers

The course covers the following learning topics:
- Defining sexual harassment
- Understanding roles, rights and responsibilities
- Disclosing or reporting sexual harassment
- Witnessing sexual harassment
- Contributing to a safer and respectful workplace
Safer Spaces deals with a serious subject matter. The content may invoke or trigger emotional responses in people who have experienced violence. Think of a trigger warning or a content warning as a consent button for content. It puts choice back in the hands of survivors.
Who Should Attend?
This course is for anyone working in tourism or hospitality. The content is developed for employees or workers. Safer Spaces for Employers and Supervisors can be found here.
Session Details
This is an online, self-paced course you can take on your own schedule. It takes about 1.5 hours to complete, and you can work through it in a way that fits your life and commitments.
Eligibility
Indigenous Tourism BC may cover the full costs of this training for eligible participants:
- Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit, Metis) residing in BC
- Indigenous-owned tourism businesses (51%+ Indigenous ownership), and employees of
- Indigenous Communities in BC
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites – just a willingness to learn and stay safe at work. No prior experience with hazardous materials is required.
