Become an ITBC Board Member

Serving on the Indigenous Tourism BC Board of Directors is more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to shape the future of Indigenous tourism in British Columbia while building your own leadership skills, network, and career.

Whether you’re an established industry leader or looking to grow into a leadership role for the first time, the ITBC Board of Directors welcomes diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices from Indigenous tourism operators across the province.

What It Means to Be a Board Member

As a member of the Board, you’ll help guide ITBC’s strategic direction, support the growth of Indigenous-owned tourism businesses, and represent your region or sector at the highest level of the organization.

Directors contribute to:

• Developing and adopting policies and procedures governing all aspects of the Society, including staff employment, management, and administration.
• Advising Society members on activities and providing recommendations for consideration and action.
• Overseeing the management of the Society’s funds and leading fundraising efforts.

Directors commit approximately 2-3 hours per month to Board and committee activities.

2026 Board of Directors Election

Three regional representatives and three at-large positions are available for the 2026 Board elections:

• Vancouver, Coast & Mountains (1)
• Kootenay Rockies (1)
• Thompson Okanagan (1)
• At-Large (3)

Successful candidates serve a term of 2 years from 2026 to 2028. Applications for interested candidates are open August 26 – September 28, 2026.  Board Elections are held October 5-23, 2026.  Election results are announced at ITBC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Indigenous Tourism Gathering on November 5, 2026.
